UMO on lanseerannut uuden, vuosittain jaettavan yleisötyön tunnustuspalkinnon. Palkinto annetaan henkilölle tai taholle, joka on ansioitunut UMOn sääntöjen mukaisen toiminnan, kuten kulttuurin ja säveltaiteen edistämisessä.
Ensimmäinen tunnustuspalkinto on myönnetty musiikinopettaja Stina Myllykselle, joka toimii UMOn kummiorkestereiden Vuosaari Junior Big Bandin ja Krunikka Star Big Bandin kapellimestarina. Myllys on tehnyt mittaamattoman arvokasta työtä yli kahden vuoden ajan UMOn kummikoulutoiminnan eteen.
